Privacy policy
The short version
Farkle: The Long Table collects no personal data. Your photo and settings stay on your device. If iCloud is on, your game progress also syncs through your own iCloud account, where we can't see it. Game Center and purchases are handled by Apple. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Who is responsible
The game is published by Simon Robert Manthorpe, trading as Pipfolk, who is responsible for your data. For anything about privacy, email hello@pipfolk.io.
What the game collects
Nothing. The game has no account or sign-in of its own, and sends nothing to us or to anyone else, apart from the Apple services below.
Your photo
If you choose a photo for your portrait, it stays on this device. It is not sent anywhere, and we never see it. The game uses the iPhone's own photo picker, which shares only the picture you choose, not your photo library. You can switch back to a drawn portrait in Options at any time.
Settings and progress
Your settings and chosen photo are saved on this device only.
Your game progress is your ladder, your achievement progress and any match in progress. It is saved on this device and, if iCloud is on, in your own iCloud account, so it can follow you to a new iPhone or come back after you reinstall the game. Apple stores it in your iCloud account, not us: we can't see it or access it. If iCloud is off, or off for this game, your progress stays on this iPhone, and deleting the game deletes it. You can turn iCloud on or off for the game in your iPhone's Settings.
Your purchase and your Game Center achievements are kept by Apple.
Game Center
If you are signed in to Game Center, the game sends your achievements and your Best turn score to Apple. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). We don't receive it, beyond what Game Center shows every player, such as leaderboard entries. You can manage Game Center in your iPhone's Settings.
Purchases
The full table is bought through the App Store. Apple takes the payment; we never see your card or Apple Account details. The game asks the App Store whether a purchase exists so it can open the seats. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
No ads, analytics or tracking
The game shows no ads and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. It never asks to track you.
Crash reports from Apple
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may send us crash reports and usage figures that do not identify you. You can turn this off in Settings at any time.
This website
This site runs on our own server, rented from Hetzner in Germany. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The web server keeps access logs, which include your IP address, the page you asked for and the time, for security and to fix faults. We keep these logs for 14 days and then delete them.
When you email us
If you write to hello@pipfolk.io, we receive your email address and whatever you send, such as device details. Our email is hosted by Apple through iCloud+ Mail. We use your email only to answer you and fix problems, and we delete it 12 months after our last contact. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.
Your rights
Under data protection law, including the GDPR and the UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- ask what data we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- restrict or object to its use;
- receive it in a portable form.
Since the game itself collects nothing, these rights mostly apply to emails you send us. To use any of them, email hello@pipfolk.io. We will reply within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live. Ours is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens in the Netherlands (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). In the UK, it's the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
The game is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, children included. Parents can use Screen Time to block purchases or control Game Center.
Changes to this policy
If the game or this policy changes, for example if a feature is added that needs data, we will update this page and the date above before that version of the game is released. If the change matters, we will also say so in the game's release notes.
